Reaching the Unreachable in the Poorest Parts of the World
Katpadi, Vellore, India

Computer Education in Katpadi Girl's Secondary School, Vellore, India

The Project: This project is located in the Girl's Higher School of Katpadi in Vellore, a city of 250'000 inhabitants. As a result of preliminary studies and visits, it was found essential to upgrade the building, improve the curriculum and to introduce computer education in the school.

 

GHF provided for technical assistance and partial funding, in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Foundation TN Chapter, which is the coordinator of this project.

 

As a result, the school has been upgraded, additional classrooms have been built, and the curriculum has been improved. The technical skills of the teachers have been improved, enabling them to now teach computer education to the students. The total number of beneficiaries from this project is 20 teachers and hundreds of students. 

The computers and furniture have now been provided.

The teachers have received relevant training.

The building of the new classrooms has been completed.

The school bus has been provided

An amount of Sfr 25'000 is now needed to enable an extension to the school to be built, and to provide equipment and furniture.
