Reaching the Unreachable in the Poorest Parts of the World

The Project: This project is located in Pasthapur and the neighbouring villages. This is a poverty-stricken and drought-prone area of semi-arid tropics with a population of 5'000. Illiteracy, ill-health and malnutrition as well as unemployment and deficient housing are prevalent amongst the whole population.

GHF is assisting this project in collaboration with the Deccan Development Society of India, the National Institute of Nutrition, and the local government of Andhra Pradesh.

GHF is providing funds for the women farmers to purchase land, so that they and their families can earn a living, build their own homes and lead a better life.

Development and educational centres are also being established in different villages to provide pre-schooling, vocational and adult educational programmes, as well as medical and nutritional care. 

A replacement to the old school bus, which became inoperative, will help the families living in the distant villages to continue sending their children to school.

GHF assistance will continue until 2013.
