The Project : Seven mothers with young babies in the poor town of La Victoria approached GHF to help them learn sewing and tailoring in their homes.
GHF accepted the challenge, recruited a local woman instructor, and provided one sewing machine. The instructor rotates from one home to the next. This enables the women to work from home, and at the same time, take
care of their infants.
GHF is providing technical assistance and funding to help these families help themselves. The sewing and tailoring training programme will continue, and a
programme of home economics and baking training is planned. Several mothers meet in one home for the course, and bring their babies with them.
